My family (Karen, Sarah, and Sam) and I have been at Second since July of 2005. Prior to serving this church I worked as a youth director at a Presbyterian church in Michigan and a middle school teacher in Washington D.C. It was during my time as a youth director that I sensed God calling me into the pastorate. Our family is so happy that God has led us here to Fulton, specifically to Second Reformed Church. God has blessed this congregation and used this congregation in mission for many years prior to our arrival. I am honored by being entrusted with the privilege and responsibility of leading Second forward in mission and obedience to God’s will for us as a church. I believe that we are poised as a congregation to experience God working powerfully in and through us. Recently, I preached on the scripture from John 15:5, “I am the vine, you are the branches. Remain in me and you will bear much fruit. Apart from me you can do nothing.” My philosophy in ministry stems from this verse. Our primary job as disciples is to remain connected to Jesus Christ in a healthy relationship. The inevitable result of that relationship is fruit. |

My husband Tim and I have been part of Second for over 20 years, since we moved to Fulton (Tim’s hometown). Tim teaches at Unity Christian School. We have two close to grown children; Jared, at college, and Erin, in high school. I served on staff at Second for 3 years in the early 1990’s and then decided to be an at-home mom to our children. I’ve been back on staff for over nine years. My favorite times at Second are whenever the kids are around spreading their enthusiasm and soaking up Jesus’ love.
I enjoy writing, reading, exercising, and cheering on my kids in whatever they’re currently doing.
